Place with soul

Welcome to Červená Sedma, our family-run restaurant where history and flavour meet right here on Kampa, just a few steps from the iconic Charles Bridge. Our name is no coincidence – it honours the famous cabaret Červená Sedma, founded in 1909 by the great-grandfather of today’s owners, Jiří Červený. This legendary venue was a pioneer of Prague’s artistic scene, blending entertainment with art and hosting icons such as Vlasta Burian and Jaroslav Hašek.

Today, we carry that legacy forward in our own way – instead of a stage, we offer a plate; instead of chansons, a cold pint of honest Czech beer; and hearty Czech cuisine made from fresh ingredients. Just like the cabaret once did, we want every guest to leave with a memorable experience – whether you come for a romantic dinner, a family lunch, or simply a refreshing stop after a stroll through Prague.

Come and taste tradition with a modern twist, and become part of a family story that began more than a hundred years ago.

The Cabaret That Awakened Prague

"The Prague cabarets that sprang up in droves at the start of the 20th century were mostly of poor quality, unable to blend entertainment with culture. Červená Sedma revolted against this. Its members wanted to entertain with taste, with high artistic standards, and to address the problems of life." — prof. František Černý

The Červená Sedma cabaret was one of the most prominent cultural phenomena of early 20th-century Prague. It was founded by Jiří Červený – father of the later world-renowned contralto Soňa Červená – together with friends in December 1909. The cabaret reached its peak around World War I, becoming a refuge for young artists, satirists, musicians, and writers.

Červená Sedma offered a mix of songs, couplets, satirical sketches, and performed scenes. Many theater scholars agree that this cabaret foreshadowed the later small-form theaters that became a symbol of Czech cultural modernity.
